cypress reserveTimes are changing for the former Lester Dairy Farm and adjoining citrus grove. What once was a productive 293-acre dairy farm with cows roaming in the pasture and a 139-acre blossoming citrus grove bursting with sweet yet sour citrus fruit will become the new home to 841 new residential homes.

There have been other plans in the past to build new homes on this former dairy farm, which was still used for milking cows up until as late as 2016. More than ten years ago, in 2006, Greenwood Property Development was in the midst of a multimillion-dollar contract, then backed out as the housing and real estate market began to slow down.

Cypress Preserve purchased these two expansive lots of land last month in hopes of building a massive residential development. The cost for these two lots of land? $5.7 million for the Lester Dairy Farm, and $4.2 million for the citrus grove owned by Florida Citrus Investors. With the purchase finalized and county approval already received for the planned housing, they are now set to move forward with their master building plans.

This project is being taken on by the parent company of Ryan Homes, NVR, Inc. The 841 residential development will be composed of both single homes and townhouses. These beautiful homes will be marketed under the name Cypress Preserve, and it is estimated sales will begin during the last quarter of 2017.

As part of this massive development project, a vision road will also be required for traffic going to and from the Cypress Preserve. Along with other traffic and road improvement scheduled in the Cypress Preserve area, the vision road will be built parallel to US 41. Other plans are already in the works by the Florida state Department of Transportation (or DOT). These plans include expanding the number of lanes on SR 52 from a two-lane highway to a six-lane highway. Next year, in 2018, there are plans to rebuild the intersection of SR 52 with US 41. In the next few years, scheduled for 2020, is a plan to transform US 41 into a four-lane highway from a two-lane highway from Connerton Boulevard to SR 52.
