and San Antonio, FL look like they will now go ahead after a series of ordinances were passed by commissioners. The ground has already been broken in Crystal Lagoon, and similar communities will now be built along the rest of the corridor.

Although voting was unanimous on the night of the vote, it has been a long process to get to this stage. The developers have had to make a lot of changes to their original proposals which would have seen some of the decision-making about the project was taken away from Pasco County officials.

The only objection that was heard on the night was regarding the loss of some designated rural area that will not be replaced. However, the commissioners expressed their opinion that they could not afford to pass up the opportunity to be the location for the first gigabit community in the nation. They also felt that the number of jobs that will be created here also helped to offset any disadvantages as the plans could bring real prosperity to the area.

Many of the jobs that will be created in the area will be as a result of the ultrafast internet speed which will be available in all communities. This economic boost will benefit businesses of all types, and it will attract a lot of investment to the area. This has already been seen to some degree because education and medical centers in the city will be provided by Tampa General Hospital and Saint Leo University.

This is the first gigabit community that will be created in the United States, and it will all be built from the ground up. Projections were made over a 50-year period, and in this time it is believed that over 66,000 jobs will have been created and more than 37,000 new homes would have been built. This is the first development of its kind, and if it becomes a success, it could pave the way for something similar in other Pasco cities.
