Wesley Chapel Lakes in Pasco County, Florida will soon be on the cutting edge of real estate history. Plans are in place to begin construction on the Park Place community on 590 acres of the former Epperson Ranch. This development will consist of 1500 homes in four separate communities and will be affordably priced in the mid $200,000 range.
Located near relatively-high paying jobs at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel and the new (2014) Wiregrass Ranch Campus of Pasco-Hernando State College, the new development will be attractive to those who are looking for a short commute. These gated communities will each feature a man-made Crystal Lagoon; the Park Place community will be home to the first such feature in the US. These massive swimming pools allow for all kinds of water activities, including sailboating, paddle boarding, kayaking, and of course, swimming.
The Crystal Lagoon at Park Place will also feature volleyball courts, water slide tower, a swim-up bar, and of course, a boat launch. The high-tech pool at Park Place will cover an impressive 8 acres, holding 18 million gallons of water, and will be kept clear and clean with the use of innovative computer technologies known as ‘remote telemetry’ that allows for the use of 100 times less chemicals than the average home pool. They also boast a 98% energy savings due to the highly efficient filtration system. Hundreds of Crystal Lagoons have already been built or are under construction in 60 locations around the world, including South America, Egypt, Dubai, and many others. Crystal Lagoons are constructed with white sand beaches, palm trees, and boat docks. In colder climates there are options allowing for the water to freeze, providing space for ice skating.
This project has been in the works since 2007, when the development company first acquired the Pasco County property. Over the course of the last several years, plans have emerged and are finally underway. Eventually this project will have an effect on the development of new communities around the US. As with any other new technology, the evolution of man-made pools will be a game-changer and an exciting advancement to watch.
