Pasco County Real EstateCurrent residents and prospective Pasco County homeowners will be happy to learn that the Pasco County school district is in the process of finishing a deal to buy a 20-acre parcel of land for the site of a future elementary school. This land is located on U.S. 41 across from Connerton, and will be utilized to accommodate the rising number of students enrolling in the school system each year. This announcement comes after the school district has already announced a number of other acquisitions, and building projects. The future of Pasco County’s school system looks bright, as the school district moves forward with these initiatives.

Schools in Pasco County

Pasco County already boasts a number of renowned schools, and is highly regarded for its education system. The 84 current schools in Pasco County consist of:

  • 46 elementary schools,
  • 15 middle schools,
  • 13 high schools,
  • 4 educational centers,
  • 1 eSchool,
  • And 6 charter schools.

Even with such a wide-reaching school system in place, the increasing level of student enrolment each year is encouraging the Pasco County school district to build even more schools to best accommodate the influx.

“Elementary School A”

This newly announced school is currently being referred to only as “elementary school A,” and is set to be built upon 20 acres of land on U.S. 41 across from Connerton. While the Pasco County school district has not yet finished the deal, the property is set to cost $1.65 million. Although the school itself will not actually be constructed in the next five years, the acquisition of this land is a great forward-looking move by the Pasco County school district to deal with the needs of more students in the future.

Existing Projects

The recent discussion of “elementary school A” only adds to a long list of projects which have already been announced by the Pasco County School Board. A number of renovation projects are coming soon, including major improvements to the Shady Hills and Quail Hollow elementary schools.

Construction to rebuild Sanders Elementary School will be commencing shortly, with the school set to open as a STEAM magnet school at the start of the next school year. Another project dubbed “elementary school W” is planned for Wesley Chapel, as is a 6-12 school which is being referred to as “GGG.” Other projects include “elementary school B” to be built in the area around Ballantrae.

While many of these projects are at least a few years off, they show that the school district is taking a strong initiative to protect the quality of the Pasco County school system in years to come. This new announcement is just a sign of the future, as Pasco County will continue to be a great place to live and raise a family.
